What Course Is For Me?

This would depend on your ability and previous experience if any. Here are some of your options, you can use one of our geared bikes or one of our automatic ones, or bring your own. We can also tailor the course to suit you:
Getting Started

The starting point for you is CBT. For this you will need a UK provisional or Full licence. The form for this, a D1, is available at the Post Office.

If you already have a full licence for another type of vehicle, such as a car, you will have probably have provisional entitlement for motorcycles on it. If you're not sure then call us and we will be happy to help.      read more...
CBT 1 Day Course

Rider Training North West provides excellent CBT Training for candidates in Southport, Ormskirk, Formby, Leyland, Liverpool, Preston, Merseyside, Lancashire and throughout the North West.

CBT is a legal requirement for anyone wishing to ride a 50cc bike and over and all provisional licence holders. For licence holders of a full licence issued after February 2001, a CBT will validate your full moped entitlement.

CBT is an introduction to motorcycling this can be done on its own or part of a full licence course.      read more...
Theory Test

Before you can sit a motorcycle practical test, you have to pass a motorcycle specific theory test.

A1 Licence

For those that don't want to ride anything bigger, but just want to remove your L plates and carry pillions the A1 licence is for you.

You must complete CBT, a motorcycle theory test and take both Module 1 and Module 2 practical test on the same size bike. If you want to book your own tests we can also offer you training on your own 125 on a daily rate. Please call us for more information.
A2 Licence

The A2 Restricted licence allows riders aged 19 or over to ride up to a medium sized motorcycle as long as it is restricted to 47 b.h.p (35 kW) and has a power-to-weight ratio of not more than 0.2 kW per kg.

The bike must not be derived from a vehicle more than twice its power. You must complete CBT (which you can do as part of an intensive course), a motorcycle theory test and take both practical tests, Module 1 and Module 2 on a bike restricted to 47 b.h.p.
A Licence - DAS (Direct Access Scheme)

Rider Training North West provides excellent DAS Training for candidates in Southport, Ormskirk, Formby, Leyland, Liverpool, Preston, Merseyside, Lancashire and throughout the Northwest.

For people aged 24 years or older. Once you have passed the test you will have a full bike licence to ride any cc or size of bike.

You can also do this test if you are 21 years+ and have held an A2 licence for 2 years. You must complete CBT, a motorcycle theory test and take your practical tests on a large motorcycle. If you already have an A1 or A2 licence you will not need to do a second motorcycle theory test or CBT.      read more...
